Round the Island yacht race | 11 July 2026
The Round the Island yacht race is one of the most amazing spectacles of the year, with Fort Victoria being one of the best places on the island to get a good view. With an incredible 1,200 yachts and 10,000 sailors taking part every year, this race is now one of the largest sailing events in the world.
The race has both professional and amateur boats in a number of different race categories, and with different starting times. The big professional racing boats set off first and will be the first to arrive at Fort Victoria. Depending on the wind and tide conditions, it's very likely that the boat will all aim to be as close to the marker buoys off Fort Victoria as possible. You're likely to see a lot of boats - seemingly very close to colliding with each other - battling to get the best racing advantage just meters away from the shoreline at Fort Victoria.
Or you can watch from the master bedroom or the living room of the cottages with sea views, in the comfort of your rental cottage.
