Places to buy food on the Isle of Wight
1. Harvey's of Yarmouth
An incredibly well-stocked (for its size) village grocery called Harveys can be found in Yarmouth’s main square. The Lost Mill Bakery sourdough bread delivered and sold here every morning is high on our list of reasons for existing, but it is just one of a range of really good fresh local produce that is sold here.
Further back in the shop there is a fantastic selection of ingredients that are often hard to find in supermarkets 10 times the size. Expect to pay a bit more than in the supermarket, but also expect to have much more interesting chats with the people at the till. There are some real characters!

2. Tescos
The nearest large supermarket is Tescos on Afton Road Freshwater. There's a bit of local produce sold here, some EV charging, and the local post office is here. There's two smaller supermarkets in Freshwater village: Co-op and Sainsbury's.
Online deliveries can be done by Waitrose, Sainsbury's, Asda and Tescos. Sorry, Ocado is a no-no.

3. J&B Fisheries and PJ Thorne
Independent retailers do have a hard time competing with supermarkets for convenience, but if it's quality, freshness and knowledgable service you value then there's a fantastic fishmonger and a butcher right next door to each other in Avenue Road, Freshwater. A few doors down (towards the High Street) there is also the excellent Freshwater Greengrocers.

4. Orchard Bros
It isn't often that you get to buy groceries from the same shop that the literary voice of the Victorian era used buy his tobacco, but this is indeed Tennyson's local pipe-filler. But it's not just for charming trip down memory lane that we recommend this 160-year old shop, it also stocks an incredibly good range of fresh local produce such as fruit and veg, meat, cheese, condiments and of course the amazing Lost Mill Bakery sourdough.
